Here are four facts you may not have realized about us— but are definitely handy to know.
You can tell us when to ship.
You may want to order today, ship today. No problem, we can almost always do that. We can also send it later. A week later. A month later. Whatever you’d like. When you shop at zingermans.com you pick the arrival date using our custom calendar. We’ll reserve your order. This is super handy during the holiday season when we sell out of some foods—and when days book up and we can’t ship same day. We don’t outsource.
We do everything in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Answer phones. Live chat. Email. Bake bread. Roast coffee. Make gift boxes. We don’t even buy pre-cut cry-o-vac’d cheese like nearly every other online business does—we hand cut your cheese to order. We don't have to "check with the fulfillment center." We are the fulfillment center. We make your gift box by hand, to order.
We don't pre-pack gift boxes and put them on shelves to wait for weeks (a practice that’s more common than you think). We pack when we ship, by hand. That means if you want to customize we can do that. We don’t think of custom orders as a hassle, we like them. We have some customizable boxes online like our pastries and meat and cheese. If you don’t see what you’d like, give us a call and we’ll help. There is no guarantee quite like ours.
I gotta hand it to Zappos. A 365 day free return policy is impressive. There are few big companies at their level. But we aren’t a big company. We’re small, so I believe we can do even better: a lifetime refund/replace policy and you never have to return anything. Tell us something didn’t work out, we’ll make it right for you, no questions asked. Well, we may ask you what we can do for you, but that’s the only question. ;) We know things can go wrong.
