I like the pace of these 'new food' emails. We're constantly hunting for new flavors everywhere we go—like last month when we were in Wisconsin and Illinois—and sharing them with you is one of our favorite thrills.
Since we're constantly working months in advance, we sorta forget what's new now because we first thought about it back in January!
That's why I appreciate the chance to share the new foods being released right now. I was excited for them 'back then' so to finally see them on our shelves is a treat.
There's a lot of good food out there. Let's talk about some of them.
It's been far too long (years, actually) since we've had a smoked salmon we wanted to share with you.
After all: smoked salmon is a big deal in the Jewish Deli world. We've been hand-slicing it at Zingerman's Deli for more than forty years, but finding a packaged salmon we could ship wasn't easy. You wanna find one that's rich, toothsome, and with a flavor that hints of smoke but lets the flavor of the fish shine through.
This salmon from Strathgarry in the Scottish highlands hits all the notes, especially the light flavor of smoke dancing in the background. You can serve this like we might at the deli: over a toasted bagel with cream cheese. It’s even better with fresh tomato, onion, and a few capers on top.
