Editor's Take

So here's the thing about Boucheron-it's not just another luxury jewelry house. It's basically the OG of Place Vendôme. Back in 1893, Frédéric Boucheron became the first jeweler to set up shop on that famous Parisian square, and legend has it he picked number 26 because it got the most sunlight. Smart guy figured his diamonds would sparkle better that way.

But what really sets Boucheron apart is this kind of rebellious elegance they've maintained for over 165 years. While other houses were playing it safe, Boucheron was creating clasp-less necklaces in 1879-which, by the way, won a Grand Prix at the 1889 World's Fair. They've always had this thing for nature-inspired designs, especially the Plume de Paon (peacock feather) motif that's been showing up in their collections since 1866.

And the client list? It reads like a who's who of royalty and Hollywood. Queen Elizabeth II had a collection of their pieces. The Vanderbilts and Rockefellers were fans. More recently, you'll spot Boucheron on everyone from Gwyneth Paltrow to various royal families across the Middle East and Asia.

Today, Boucheron operates more than 90 boutiques worldwide as part of the Kering luxury group. Their signature collections-Quatre, Serpent Bohème, Jack de Boucheron-have that distinctive Parisian flair that's both timeless and totally contemporary. The Quatre ring, launched in 2004, has become such an icon that they just celebrated its 20th anniversary with a whole campaign.

What's interesting is how they've expanded beyond jewelry. They do high-end watches, and their fragrance line (licensed through Interparfums since 2011) has over 22 scents. But jewelry remains the heart of it all, with their High Jewelry collections-like the recent "Impermanence" and "Or Bleu"-pushing creative boundaries while staying true to that original Boucheron DNA.

The brand recently made a big move back to the U.S. market, opening a stunning 3,900-square-foot flagship on Madison Avenue in New York. It's their first standalone American boutique in years, designed with Art Deco influences that bridge Paris and New York. And they're not stopping there-more U.S. locations are planned over the next couple years.
