We all know that classic line: “We have food at home.” Growing up, I was lucky to have a mom who actually made that true—she cooked from scratch almost every night. We’d flip through Ina Garten’s cookbooks or print recipes off Epicurious (probably even a few from Food52).
I fell in love with baking first—drop cookies, cupcakes, the works. I still remember getting my first set of Wilton frosting tips and feeling unstoppable. Cooking took longer to click, but once I was living on my own, dinner became less of a choice and more of a daily puzzle. That’s when I learned adulthood is basically planning your next meal, dreading the dishes, and sneaking in some laundry.
