| We stayed at The Chestnut Hill Hotel which is on Germantown Avenue in a prime location. It is a historical landmark with an intriguing history. From their web site: The existing Chestnut Hill Hotel building was constructed in 1894 to replace an earlier Inn, which had been built in the same location in 1772. During Prohibition, the Hotel degenerated into a speakeasy and, according to some local residents, a bordello. In 1957-1958, the Hotel had its turrets and porches removed and the Hotel was remodeled in the colonial style. In the early 80’s, it was renovated again and became the core of the current retail complex, with the Hotel’s carriage house and stables transformed into stores and a farmers’ market. 2010 brings its latest incarnation, restoring the property to its original grandeur and elegance. | | | The Chestnut Hill Hotel is hopefully still dog friendly after John's visit. I have to say how lovely the staff is and the location could not be any better. We will definitely be back! | | | Our recent trunk shows have been such a success, and we want to explore doing more more of them. We stopped into Läete at 8436 Germantown Avenue to take a look around as this is exactly the type of shop that we think could be a nice fit. | | | Nirvana is on the list for the next visit. For dinner, McNally's is a popular spot and if you are in the mood for casual Italian, Enza in nearby Wyndmor is a great choice. For brunch we suggest brunch at Cake or Matine's Café, and visit Chill on the Hill for frozen yogurt. | | | There is a station right on Germantown Avenue where you can take a train into Center City for brunch at Parc in Rittenhouse Square followed by a visit to the Philadelphia Museum of Art or the Barnes Foundation. | | | However, there are so many charming antique shops, cafes, boutiques and galleries along Germantown Avenue. You can easily enjoy a full weekend in Chestnut Hill without venturing into the city. | | We wore our Green Block Print Emma Dress and our Ocean Blue Olivia Cashmere Wrap to an early dinner at CinCin on Germantown Avenue. The Hudson Valley unfortunately doesn't have the best Chinese food, so I looked forward to this dinner at CinCin, which was excellent. I carried my Edgartown Raffia Clutch and wore my Westman Atelier Lip Suede Lipstick in Je Rêve and the Westman Atelier Eye Pods in Toujours. My sandals are the Canfora Gail in Tan. Canfora was apparently a favorite brand of Jackie O, and I receive so many compliments on them. | | | Laurel Hill Gardens on Germantown Avenue is an oasis with a nice selection of plants. We also suggest visiting the University of Pennsylvania's Morris Arboretum & Gardens which is also located in Chestnut Hill not far from Germantown Avenue (approximately a ten minutes drive). | | Night out: The weekend was rather casual and I didn't have the opportunity to dress up, however I did pack my Valerie Dress just in case. The Valerie isn't currently available however we might find a few units for our sample and archive sale later this summer. This is my favorite summer dress for evening as it features lightweight black linen and a slimmer fit. It is pictured with my Black Claudia Wrap, Jennifer Alfano Jewelry Knife Edge Hoops and Onyx Signet Ring, Hermès Lipstick, Westman Atelier Eye Pods in Les Nuits and Aera New York Claudia Black Grosgrain Slingback Sandals. The Aera collection is sustainably made in Veneto, Italy and the heels are so comfortable. The grosgrain material feels lighter than leather and is perfect for a warm summer evening. | | Our latest Reading, Watching, Wearing etc is on Wynne's World. We had a six and a half hour (round trip) drive to Chestnut Hill and to pass the time I listened to the audiobook I Regret Almost Everything by Keith McNally. His story was captivating and resonated with me, especially when he described the extreme highs and lows of entrepreneurship. We never quite know what someone is going through behind the scenes, and business is often brutal with unexpected challenges like being hit with tariffs or, in McNally's case, receiving a negative restaurant review after so much hard work. I see strong similarities between the fashion and hospitality industries, and it was interesting to hear how he navigated his personal and professional challenges. I also thoroughly enjoyed Sirens on Netflix, which my friend Ann Caruso reminded me to watch as she knew I had been looking forward to it. It was a perfect escape and so well done. Next on our list is The Better Sister series, and we have to go back to Paradise on Hulu and the classic film The Magus, which we temporarily abandoned for Sirens. We hope that you are having a wonderful weekend! xo, Heidi | | | Heidi Wynne LLC PO Box 76 5147 NY-213 Ste 1 Olivebridge, New York 12461 Copyright © 2025 Heidi Wynne LLC, All rights reserved.
