Rivals is one of the most entertaining shows I have watched in a long time. Set in 1980s England, it follows the lives of television executives, aristocrats, journalists, and socialites in the countryside. Everyone is glamorous, competitive, dramatic, and completely chaotic. I try to be careful with recommendations since the time I raved about Saltburn and traumatized a few of you, however this show is genuinely just a lot of fun and you shouldn't need to process it during therapy afterward. I love the nostalgia, the 80s hair, and the wardrobe, both good and very, very bad.

Long Weekend Film: La Collectionneuse (Éric Rohmer, 1967)

Rohmer's La Collectionneuse is one of those very chic French summer films where not much happens, but somehow you still want to move to the South of France immediately after watching it. It follows a group spending the summer near Saint-Tropez lounging around, talking about relationships, and getting involved in each other’s drama. The clothes, houses, beaches, and overall mood are what really make the film so good. It is going to be a rainy holiday weekend in New York so I also plan to rewatch a few of my summer favorites including La Piscine, A Bigger Splash, The Talented Mr. Ripley and Call Me by Your Name.
