Hey Neighbor, Over the last 17 years, I’ve had the opportunit to be part of a wonderful community of gardeners—both beginners and seasoned pros—who simply love growing their own food. We’ve shared countless conversations in person, through emails, and over the phone. Helping people is one of my greatest joys, and I’m constantly learning from the experiences and wisdom of others. One thing about gardening: we’re always learning. One question I get more than any other is, “What can I plant now?” October is one of the best months for planting fall crops. There are a few exceptions depending on where you live, but for most of us, this is prime time to get those cool-weather vegetables in the ground. If you’re in the southern or middle parts of the U.S., here’s a list of crops you can plant right now (Note: If you live in the upper U.S., not everything on this list may apply—check your local frost dates and soil temperatures before planting.) | | - Harvest Roselle. We have a bumper crop this year.
- Transplant calendula into the garden.
- Plant a plot of potato onions.
- Trim the tops on onion plants growing greenhouse.
- Plant cilantro and candy stevia in the greenhouse for transplants.
