Sauna life 1-year later, the Mt. Rushmore book for founders, the gear our Co-Founder swears by, and more...
Woooooodogggy!! It’s a great day to be alive.
As I approach the end of the year, I’ve found myself taking stock of what got done, and what’s still waiting for its turn. I did NOT climb Mount Rainier like I’d hoped (I guess three kids are a handful after all). But as it turns out, I managed to accomplish about 70% of what I set out to do. I’ll take it.
And here’s to a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and a more adventurous year ahead.
New Mantra: As I get older and life gets busier, I’ve adopted an “All In or Not At All” mindset. It helps me be more intentional in my decision-making by saying “yes” to things where I know I can be fully present, invested, and excited (and “no” to everything else). It protects how I spend my time and who I spend it with: my family, friends, and all the great people here who help keep the Huckberry wheels turnin’.
Most-Worn This Year: I’m blown away at how well our design team executed the Proof PatinaTech Collection. I wear the PatinaTech Crewneckon repeat, especially when I’m at the office. It’s got a natural mineral dye that looks and feels like a broken-in vintage sweatshirt. It’s also sweat-wicking and odor-resistant. There’s nothing else like it.
The 2025 Gear I Picked Up:
• Sea Kelp Waxed Hudson Jacket: Part of a limited-edition Flint and Tinder collection our team shot in Nimmo Bay. The imagery came out so strong, I had to get a piece for myself.
• Cabin Flannel: Another pick from F&T and my go-to “heavy” flannel. Sturdy, warm, and versatile.
• Huckberry x Danner Bull Run: We made this collab to coincide with our new show, Shop Class. I snuck a pair of the Chelsea boots from the studio. Always helps to be a sample size!
• BOON Skincare: Friend, collaborator, and menswear trailblazer Aaron Levine just started BOON, an all-natural skincare company. I’ve finally found my low-effort routine. Can you tell I’m looking younger and more handsome?
My Favorite Huckberry Moments in 2025: Opening stores in Washington D.C. and Chicago. Each location is so incredibly unique. If you’re ever in either city, stop by and say hey. First round of drinks is on us.
Travel Hacks: Thanks to the wisdom of Michael Easter, I’m always aiming to be a 2%-er at the airport. I drive my family and friends crazy by taking the stairs instead of the escalator, and walking the terminal instead of sitting at the gate. And for gear, the Ridge Power Bank is my most-used travel gadget.
Favorite Read: Dove is my recommendation of the year. It’s another coming of age story (perhaps because I’m still trying to figure that out 🙂) about a 16-year-old boy who sets out to be the youngest person to solo circumnavigate the globe on a sailboat. It’s a quick read that fills your cup. Hat tip to Dean Petty for the rec.
Sauna Life, One Year Later: Last Rundown, I talked about my newfound love for the sauna. Still very much hooked on the ritual, I made sure to add one at our Austin HQ. The guys at SISU hooked us up with a beauty. And you best believe I didn’t forget about adding some sauna hats. Our friend Jesse Itzler started a company called All Day Sauna Co., and we brought in a handful of styles, including the notable Cowboy Sauna Hat. (That style is more of a fit for Andy.)
Looking Toward 2026: Huckberry turns 15. Yes, we’re basically a moody teenager this year. It’s going to be one of our biggest brand moments yet. Keep an eye on the newsletter and be on the lookout for more opportunities to see us across the country in 2026.
I’ll leave you with an excerpt from my favorite poem, "If" by Rudyard Kipling:
“If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster / And treat those two impostors just the same / Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it, And—which is more—you'll be a Man, my son!”
