The gateway drugs to collecting watches, the voyage that proved dragons aren't real, and more...
Andy Forch, Huckberry co-founder here, dropping in with a Rundown of my favorite fall gear, shows, books, and more. Let’s roll.
$125k in Cash, Gear, and Guidance: Rich and I bootstrapped Huckberry from our apartments with a $10K personal investment. Starting this company has been an incredible adventure, and now we're paying it forward with The Dream Year Giveaway. One of you will win the cash, gear, and guidance to make 2026 the best year of your life. We've loved reading your comments about what you'd do—from starting a business to working remotely in Japan for a year. The giveaway ends soon, so enter now. And as a reminder, you get entries with every purchase. Good luck!
My Fall Date Night Go-Tos:
• The James Jacket by Flint and Tinder: It reminds me of something that Daniel Craig’s Bond would wear.
• 365 Chino by Flint and Tinder: I have bigger (ahem, athletic) thighs, so I grab the Athletic Tapered fit.
• Terra Sneaker by LUCA: Hard to beat the comfort of the Lactae Hevea soles.
• 1978 Rolex GMT 1675: These were originally issued for Pan Am Airways. Pilots received the black face dials, executives received the white ones.
Favorite New YouTube Show: We're partnering with our longtime friend, photographer Ben Ono, on a new Huckberry show called Type 2 Fun. Type 2 is my favorite kind of fun—it sometimes sucks in the moment, but it pushes you to become a better version of yourself. In episode one, Ben trains with Luke Shepardson, a North Shore lifeguard who won one of the world's biggest big-wave contests...on his lunch break.
For Your Next Boys Trip: Commemorate it with a trophy! My co-founder Rich and I host an annual spearfishing trip in the Bahamas, and this year we upped the ante with a custom award for the biggest fish and biggest lobster (sorry, Richard). It’s funny how something this simple can make the post-trip glow burn a little longer and stronger.
My "Watch Stack" : My most annoying trait right now might be my new-found love of vintage watches. If you're looking to tumble down the rabbit hole, these were my gateway drugs.
Brand to Watch—Satisfy: This is a running brand out of Paris that's blowing up the category by mixing high-performance gear with a vintage rock 'n' roll soul. I visited their HQ a few years back and was blown away by the creativity and attitude. Their MothTech tees are in heavy rotation for me, and I've been loving their new TheROCKER Trail Sneakers lately, too.
A Cookbook Rec:Good Things by Samin Nosrat. Samin dropped by Huckberry HQ last week with my buddy Hrishi (of Song Exploder) before a live podcast taping in Austin. Her first book, Salt Fat Acid Heat, is the cookbook that has influenced my cooking philosophy the most (TL;DR: understand the first principles). Her second book is living up to the hype.
Hello, Chicago! We opened our first permanent store in Washington, D.C. this past August. Chicago is up next—we're launching in mid-November. If you're in the area, I hope to see you out there during the opening weekend.
