This winter, The Met welcomes the season with iconic holiday decorations—from the beloved Christmas tree and Neapolitan Baroque Crèche to the magnificent mid-19th-century silver menorah celebrating Hanukkah. These seasonal highlights transform the Museum into a vibrant, welcoming destination for visitors of all ages.

Alongside these cherished traditions, enjoy free guided tours that bring our galleries to life, festive performances, seasonal treats, holiday-themed Date Night celebrations, and much more. There's something for everyone to discover at The Met.

Experience the Magic of the Season at The Met Cloisters
Perched on the Hudson River in Fort Tryon Park, The Met Cloisters brings the Middle Ages to life with reconstructed cloisters, chapels, and halls filled with manuscripts, sculptures, tapestries, and metalwork. Join us all season to celebrate:
  • From December 4 through January 6, take in grand displays of fresh ivy, holly boughs, hand-polished lady apples, pinecones, and other natural elements, all locally sourced, that evoke the spirit of a medieval winter celebration.
  • Participate in activities inspired by the Museum's medieval history including wreathmaking, storytelling, sketching in the galleries, and daily tours that explore winter celebrations in the Middle Ages from Medieval Christmastide to Hanukkah.
  • Get into the holiday spirit with caroling with The Filomen M. D'Agostino Greenberg Music School.
