Dear Friend,

In case you missed it, I want to call your attention to our email from last week, which describes your essential role in helping the National Air and Space Museum preserve and share American culture and ingenuity and expresses our immense gratitude for making our important work possible.

Can we count on you to support the Museum with a membership gift during our busiest season?

Summer is always a special time of year at the Museum, July in particular. July 1 marks the anniversary of our grand opening on the National Mall in 1976 ... July 20 marks the anniversary of the first lunar landing in 1969 ...

And on July 28 of this year, we will reopen five more reimagined galleries in our flagship building on the National Mall—including Futures in Space, Barron Hilton Pioneers of Flight, and World War I: The Birth of Military Aviation.

This is such an exciting moment!

Friend, it’s our privilege to commemorate the remarkable history of aviation and space exploration and present it in bold new ways to educate and inspire millions, including many who may be learning about it for the very first time.

And this summer, I hope we can count on your help to continue sharing history’s greatest achievements with the world.

Sincerely,

Elizabeth Wilson

Dear Friend,

Summer is a time to shine at the National Air and Space Museum! We’ve got so much to celebrate …

...Summer is the anniversary of the first lunar landing on July 20, 1969.

...It’s when we opened our doors in 1976, with President Gerald Ford and Apollo 11 astronaut (and first Museum director) Michael Collins on hand to cut the ribbon.

...And this summer (on July 28—less than two weeks from today!) we will unveil more transformed galleries and exhibition spaces in our flagship building, including the Lockheed Martin IMAX Theater and our sweeping grand entrance on the National Mall.

Summer is our busiest time of year, when record numbers of visitors flock to both Museum locations to experience the world’s largest collection of aviation and space artifacts … engage with interactive, hands-on exhibitions … and gain a deeper understanding of the courageous pioneers who charted our nation’s rich history of invention and exploration.

Friend, your support is vital all year long, but most urgent this summer! That is why we hope you will become a member of the National Air and Space Museum today.

With your summertime gift, you will help us fulfill our mission to commemorate, educate, and inspire millions with the fascinating history of aviation and space exploration.

You will ensure we can continue to acquire, conserve, and share one-of-a-kind artifacts … commemorate important moments in history … develop innovative educational programming … and offer family-friendly events to inform and entertain people of all ages.

When you join the National Air and Space Society, you will immediately receive all the benefits of membership, including:
  • A subscription to Air & Space Quarterly, our award-winning signature magazine
  • Invitations to the Society’s annual Flight Jacket Night, events, and exhibition previews
  • Member discounts at Smithsonian Museum Stores, IMAX® Theater, and the planetarium
  • A stunning wall calendar featuring iconic images from our collection.
You will also gain access to our exclusive members-only portal, where you can reserve free passes to visit the National Mall building, including the all-new spaces opening July 28!

With your membership support today, we can dig deeper into the past to discover new details about the inventors, designers, and builders who imagined we could fly—then turned their dreams into a reality that continues to expand our horizons.

We depend on your generosity to share this history in creative new ways that reflect a narrative of discovery. So please show how much you value American ingenuity and culture with your membership gift today.

Thank you for helping us preserve and share the transformative history of flight with the world.

The National Air and Space Museum

P.S. We’ve got big plans for July 1, 2026, when we will celebrate the Museum’s 50th anniversary and unveil the final phase of our stunning transformation. It’s going to be a year to remember, and we need you with us now as we stage a celebration for the ages. Please join today!
