We join the space community and the country in remembering the life and legacy of Gemini and Apollo astronaut James A. Lovell Jr. With the crew of Apollo 8, Jim Lovell was one of the first to travel into deep space and orbit the Moon, and on Apollo 13 his cool head helped turn a near-disaster into NASA’s finest hour.

Captain Lovell was a good friend to the Museum and one of our greatest supporters — he will be dearly missed.

We reflect on Lovell's undeniable impact on the history of human spaceflight in a new blog.
