Negative Underwear - February 1, 2026
A note from our Founders on our 12th Birthday
To our Negative community— Today we turn twelve.
To our Negative community—
Today we turn twelve.
Twelve feels meaningful. A full cycle. Enough time to know what lasts, what doesn’t, and what’s worth repeating. It’s a number that comes with clarity — not because everything is solved, but because the point of view and the standard we uphold becomes more precise.
When we started Negative, we weren’t trying to build something loud or flashy. We were trying to build something better, more considered. Something that felt like a relief once you put it on. That idea has guided every decision since — through new fabrics, categories, hires, warehouses, and more late nights than we can count, all in service of delivering on that original promise.
What we’ve learned is that the right way is usually the long way. The way that involves testing, editing, listening, and sometimes starting over. The way that values restraint over excess and substance over noise. The way that proves itself quietly, over time.
We launched very intentionally on February 1st. Our first day coincided with an article in The Wall Street Journal Off Duty — in print, on a Saturday. At the time, we couldn’t have known how meaningful that moment would become, or how much it would shape our confidence to keep going.
February, of course, happens to be when many are thinking about love. It’s a month that is ideally a chance to be thoughtful rather than obligatory. Our curated Valentine’s edit is just that: pieces that feel especially right for now; timeless, intimate, and designed to be worn often.
As for us, we’re officially twelve. Not quite teenagers, but certainly opinionated: old enough to know who we are, young enough to keep experimenting.
Thank you for being part of this — then, now, and onwards.
With love,
Lauren + Marissa
