Peak Design jobs

We design kick-ass, innovative, and industry-shifting products for people who love detail-obsessed gear. We're a group of creative and scrappy individuals who nerd out on photography, camping, climbing, surfing, music, crafts, power tools, rescue dogs, bikes, old trucks, coffee, dumb games, very large trees, and poking fun at Pete (our Founder and CEO). We design and sell rad, award-winning products that we ourselves use on a daily basis.

Editor's Take

Peak Design isn't your typical gear company-and honestly, that's exactly what makes them so compelling. Started by a guy who got fed up lugging camera equipment around the world (relatable, right?), they've basically revolutionized how we think about carrying stuff.

What's fascinating is their approach. No venture capital breathing down their necks, no board of directors demanding quarterly growth at all costs. Just a scrappy San Francisco team that crowdfunds everything and actually listens to their customers. It's refreshing in a world where most companies seem to design products in boardrooms rather than, you know, actually using them.

Their product line spans way beyond cameras now-everyday backpacks, travel gear, mobile accessories, tripods that fold down impossibly small. But here's the thing: everything they make has this obsessive attention to detail that borders on neurotic. Take their Everyday Backpack-it's got these magnetic latches that somehow feel both futuristic and completely intuitive. Or their camera straps that can transform from neck strap to sling to wrist strap in seconds.

The company's grown to about 97 employees with $68.9 million in revenue, but they've managed to keep that startup energy. Their San Francisco flagship store on Hayes Street feels more like a playground for gear nerds than a traditional retail space. And they're not just talking sustainability-they're actually carbon neutral across all scopes, which is pretty rare for a manufacturing company.

What really sets them apart is this philosophy that good design should make your life easier, not more complicated. Every product solves a real problem, usually one their team has personally experienced. It's the kind of company where the CEO probably still uses every single product they sell.
