Must-see Stops for Complete Cultural Immersion

AKTÁ LAKOTA MUSEUM

Explore the rich history, culture, and heritage of the Lakota people at the Aktá Lakota Museum. Located on the scenic campus of St. Joseph’s Indian School along the Missouri River, the museum spans more than 14,000 square feet of art, artifacts, and interactive exhibits that honor Lakota traditions. Admission is free!

WASHINGTON PAVILION

Summer isn’t complete without a trip to the Washington Pavilion’s Kirby Science Discovery Center in Sioux Falls! With more than 100 interactive exhibits, there’s always something new to do, from exploring space to learning about tornadoes, dinosaurs, space exploration and more. Don’t forget to see a planetarium film, too!

MAMMOTH SITE OF HOT SPRINGS

Travel back in time as you walk the edges of the sinkhole where more than 60 mammoths and at least 87 other species have been discovered. Dig big in the Junior Paleontology or Family Dig programs, and test your atlatl-throwing skills in our Family Ice Age Hunt.
