If you were asked to think of the most striking geologic formations in Southern Utah, you’d probably picture Delicate Arch, hoodoos at Bryce Canyon, or the skyscraping walls of Zion Canyon. And while these stunning sites rightly draw visitors from around the world, Utah is home to many less-famous geologic treasures that are often overlooked. Rare sand pipes, labyrinths of slot canyons and massive mounds of bentonite clay formed during the Jurassic Period are just waiting to be explored by those willing to take the road less traveled.
