An Adventure through Goosenecks and Geologic Time

One thousand feet below Goosenecks State Park, the San Juan River has carved a deep canyon that loops around several tight bends. This geological wonder has transformed the river into a prime rafting vacation destination. And while river trips in the western U.S. often conjure up visions of tsunami-sized whitewater rapids and flipped rafts, the San Juan is different. It offers just enough small rapids for some excitement, letting you take in the dramatic geology and fascinating archaeological sites.
