Newgarden Surges to Record Sixth Bommarito Automotive Group 500 Victory

Team Penske’s Josef Newgarden showcased his short-oval dominance once again Sunday night, capturing the 10th annual Bommarito Automotive Group 500 presented by Axalta and Valvoline for a track-record sixth career victory at World Wide Technology Raceway.

Chip Ganassi Racing’s Alex Palou collected his NTT INDYCAR SERIES-leading fifth pole position of the season – and fourth in a row – in Saturday’s qualifying for the 10th annual Bommarito Automotive Group 500  presented by Axalta and Valvoline at World Wide Technology Raceway.

Palou secured his first pole position at WWT Raceway with a two-lap average of 174.353 miles per hour on the 1.25-mile oval. He was the final qualifier and knocked Team Penske’s David Malukas (173.244 mph) from the top spot by better than a mile per hour.

Just two and a half days after hosting a major NTT INDYCAR SERIES weekend, World Wide Technology Raceway once again demonstrated its national prominence as a premier motorsports and live event destination by welcoming the legendary Hot Rod Power Tour, the world’s largest rolling car show.

The one-day stop in Madison drew an impressive 6,000+ show cars and more than 15,000 attendees, transforming the raceway into a hub of automotive culture, community and celebration.

The 15th annual NAPA Auto Parts NHRA Midwest Nationals at World Wide Technology Raceway will air on FOX adjacent to a FOX football broadcast on Sunday, Oct. 4, highlighting an exciting NHRA on FOX schedule for NHRA’s 75th anniversary season.

This year, the weather threw everything it had at us, and we had to adjust on the fly more than once. But alongside INDYCAR Race Control, we were determined to go the distance and deliver a show worthy of every single one of you.

To those who powered through both stoppages and stayed until the final lap—you are the heart of this event. Thank you for sticking with us.
